About Me!
About Me!
Hannah Kurczeski is an actress, singer, and playwright double majoring in Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies and English with a concentration in fiction writing at Yale College. Originally from the small town of Catasauqua, Pennsylvania, she is a hard worker and passionate advocate for arts education who is inspired by coming of age stories, suburban life, femininity, truth, travel, and human connection.
Her first love has always been performing, which she has been doing ever since she auditioned for and landed the role of 'The Coroner' in a local production of "The Wizard of Oz" when she was 7 years old. Since then, she has continued to perform in various productions for the stage and screen in community and professional theaters at home, in college at Yale, in New York, and beyond. She consistently trains in all performance disciplines to hone her skills, and has landed several roles in both independent and major films, including the role of 'Young Marika' in the Emmy-Award winning documentary, Remember Us: The Hungarian Hidden Children (2020).
When she was not onstage growing up, she was drafting fiction stories on the tattered pages of spiral notebooks. It is only recently that she’s decided to combine these passions and explore playwriting. Her first play, prom night, was selected for the 2024 Yale Playwrights Festival where it received a staged reading and developmental mentorship from Amy Boratko (Yale Rep) and Pulitzer finalist Sarah DeLappe (The Wolves, A24's Bodies Bodies Bodies). The following year, she produced a fully staged production at Yale.
While at college, she has also served as the Special Events Coordinator on the board of the Yale Dramatic Association, the nation's oldest and largest undergraduate theater organization. She also serves as the Yale Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies Department Student Liaison, a Yale Undergraduate Productions House Manager, and has worked for two summers at the Cape Cod Theater Project. With the rest of her free time she likes reading speculative fiction, eating nachos, going for long walks with friends, and curating her vast collection of opossum memes.
